Frequently asked questions
Ordering, payment, delivery, sizes and coverage.
How do I order?
Text 480-495-1808 with the material, size, how many tons and the job address. You can also call or use the quote form on any page. Scheduling is first come, first served. Payment is collected upon delivery, and some jobs (depending on the price and material) may require a non-refundable deposit.
How much rock do I need?
At 2 inches deep, 1 ton covers about: 1/2" screened rock 120 sq ft; 1" screened rock 100 sq ft; 1-3" rip rap 80 sq ft; 3-9" rip rap 50 sq ft; minus material 120 sq ft. Quick shortcut: square feet × depth in inches ÷ 230 = approximate tons. Most materials have a 10-ton minimum. Try our rock calculator, or text us the square footage and we'll figure it for you.
What is the minimum order?
Most materials have a 10-ton minimum. Some decorative rocks have a 15-ton minimum, and specialty rocks are special order with a 20-ton minimum. Each product page shows its minimum.
How soon can you deliver?
Scheduling is first come, first served. Delivery can be as soon as the next day if a spot is open.
What are your delivery hours?
The first load usually goes out between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m., and the last load is usually around 3 to 4 p.m. Times depend on the job location and its distance from the quarry.
Do you deliver on weekends?
We deliver Monday through Friday only, no weekend deliveries.
How much fits in one load?
One truckload holds 10 to 22 tons.
Where can the truck dump?
The dump spot needs to be flat, level, safe, legal and big enough for a dump truck to raise its bed. If you want the load behind an RV gate, the opening needs to be at least 10 feet wide.
Will the truck damage my driveway?
It can. A fully loaded dump truck can weigh up to 80,000 lbs and can crack a driveway. Customers who want the load dumped on a driveway must sign a liability waiver before we drop it.
Do I need to be home for the delivery?
No, but give us specific instructions on where to dump. If you won't be home, pay by Zelle upon delivery, or pay by cash or check before delivery.
How do I pay?
Payment is due upon delivery. We accept cash, check or Zelle only.
Can you split a load?
Each load can only be one material. We can split one load into two piles at the job site, but we can't guarantee the exact amount in each pile.
Can I cancel or reschedule?
Yes, anytime before the truck is loaded. Once the truck is loaded, all sales are final.
Do you offer bulk discounts?
For jobs that need several loads, we can negotiate a custom price. Text us the material, amount and job address.
Where can I see the rock?
We don't have a yard. Rock is picked up direct from the mine and delivered to you. To see a rock in person, visit a local landscape supply center, or check the photos on our decorative rock pages.
What's the difference between screened, minus and washed rock?
Screened rock has been sifted to one size range (like 1/2" or 1"), so it's loose, uniform decorative ground cover. Minus rock (like 1/4" minus) includes that size and everything smaller, down to the dust, so it packs down hard for paths, patios and paver base. Washed rock has the dust and fines rinsed off, so it stays clean, drains well and looks brighter.
How deep should landscape rock be?
About 2 inches is typical for half-inch rock, and 2 to 3 inches for one-inch rock. Deeper rock hides weed barrier better and keeps soil from showing through.
What is quarter minus?
Quarter minus, often called decomposed granite or DG, is rock crushed to a quarter inch and smaller with the fine dust left in. It packs down into a firm surface for paths and patios.
What's the difference between spec and non-spec ABC?
Spec ABC, like MAG Spec or ADOT Class II, is graded to meet a published specification that city, county or state jobs require. Recycled Non-Spec ABC works for driveways, slabs and pavers when no spec is called for.
Where do you deliver?
Anywhere in the Phoenix metro, across Maricopa County and northern Pinal County. See our delivery area page for the full list of cities.
Can I set up regular deliveries?
Yes. Contractors can schedule repeat ABC, sand and rock deliveries to match their jobs.
