Quarter Minus (Decomposed Granite)
Quarter minus, also called decomposed granite or DG, is rock crushed to a quarter inch and smaller with the fines left in, so it compacts into a firm, walkable surface. We carry it in two colors: Palomino Gold, a budget-friendly base option, and Madison Gold, the go-to base for pavers and bigger projects that need long-lasting compaction.
Common uses
- Paths, walkways and patios
- Base and fill around pavers
- Compacted ground cover and parking areas
